The day has finally come. What Capstone Games only hinted at back in 2022 during GenCon is now finally happening. Ark Nova is getting its first big expansion, called Marine Words.
As the name suggests, the expansion will bring marine life to your tabletop zoo. To be precise, you’ll get seven new animals, with roughly half of them being reef dwellers and the others hailing from the sea.
The expansion also introduces a new university and four alternative versions of each of the five action cards already present in the base game, so you can mix and match them to make things more interesting.
You also get new zoo and scoring cards, bonus tiles, and more. You’ll still need the core edition of Ark Nova to play with the expansion, as it is not standalone.
According to Capstone Games, the game will be released in October 2023, but it is already available for preorder on their website for $29.95. Be aware that Capstone Games only ships to the USA and Canada.
If you are from Europe, you’ll be able to get the game in October during the Spiel Essen (Essen Game Fair), where both English and Deutsch versions will be available. A few weeks after the initial launch, you can expect to find it in well-stocked retail stores around the globe.
