Rejoice, H.P. Lovecraft fans – a new game in the twisted Arkham universe is almost upon us!

Asmodee is teaming up with Edge Studios to develop a tabletop RPG based on the highly successful Arkham Horror franchise by Fantasy Flight Games. Arkham Horror: The Roleplaying Game is coming in with a Starter Set on August 2nd at Gen Con 2024. The price is set at $34.99 and the game should be available at online retailers and hobby stores across the globe.

Although details are still scarce, we know that the starter set will be called Hungering Abyss and will allow up to six players to get a headstart with a core rulebook, dice, NPC cards, tokens, puzzles, and more. It should contain ten one-hour scenarios for an easily digestible tabletop experience that players can experience at their own pace.

The game is targeted at both veterans of cooperative Lovecraftian adventures and newcomers to the genre. It will use a newly-developed “Dynamic Pool System,” which will supposedly bring a mix of an easy learning curve and strategic nuance, but we have no other info about it at this point.

Arkham Horror: Roleplaying Game looks poised to become an excellent entry into Lovecraft’s twisted world. With no previous game or book experience required, it is sure to bring new fans to the table, and we cannot wait to see what Edge Studios has in store for us. Stay tuned here at Boargamer and we’ll keep you updated with any new developments on this exciting project.
