Fantasy Flight Games has announced another collaboration with Lucasfilm Ltd. This new project is Star Wars: Unlimited, a trading card game (TCG) firmly set in the world of George Lucas.
FFG’s press release stated that the card game will include many of the beloved heroes, villains, and even ships from the Star Wars universe. Fans of the franchise will be happy to know that the game will include characters and other elements not just from the movies, but also from TV shows, games, and comic books.
Star Wars: Unlimited promises to deliver a game that will be easily accessible to new gamers, but with enough strategic depth for repeated playthroughs. The game has been in development for the past three years with competitive play in mind, so we look forward to seeing how it will pan out.
“Ensuring this game was accessible to all players was key for us, so whether you are a casual player, competitor, or collector, there’s something for everyone in this game. Straightforward mechanics are the driving force behind the design. It’s clean and concise with no gimmicks – a card game in its purest form.”
Jim Cartwright, Product Strategy Director at FFG
Star Wars: Unlimited will feature new designs and art for the cards and won’t just repurpose existing assets from the franchise. In typical TCG fashion, there will be unique alternate designs for cards.
News of a new game from Fantasy Flight Games set in the Star Wars universe is definitely exciting. In the meantime, we can look forward to the global release of the game, which is set for 2024.
