Lara Croft will be back as the Tomb Raider, but not in the video game form or on the big screen. Instead, a new Tomb Raider board game is coming up!
Iconiq Studios, publisher of several licensed games including the SAW board game, has just announced Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos. This will be mainly a solo board game, but it’ll be possible to bring a group of friends to help Lara navigate the wilderness in her tabletop adventure.
The game is designed by Luke Melia (SAW: The Jigsaw Trials, They Live: The Card Game) and plays in 20 to 180 minutes. According to the publisher, the idea was to provide the players with a full Tomb Raider experience, as in everything they expect from this IP. That means action, adventure, and a solid dose of puzzle-solving.
This announcement comes hot off the heels of a recent Tomb Raider Reloaded release, a compilation of the first three video games in the series remastered for modern gaming systems. As you can see in the packshot above, the art style and Lara’s design coincide with the updated visuals in the upcoming Tomb Raider video game.
That being said, this adventure in Kairos is still far off. The Kickstarter campaign for Tomb Raider: The Crypt of Chronos starts in May 2025, with more information coming up in the upcoming months. In the meantime, keep an eye on Iconiq Studios at various board game conventions where they’ll show off the game.
