Kinfire Council is a new board game designed by Kevin Wilson and soon to be published by Incredible Dream Studios. Just like all the other Kinfire games, this one is also set in the world of Atios. Specifically in the city of Din’Lux, where Dwarfs, Orcs, Elves, and Humans are attempting to set aside centuries of turbulent history and find a way forward. However, a new force threatens to destroy the last bastion from within: the cult of Altan.
In the game, you’ll be playing as a member of the Din’Lux Council, tasked with rebuilding and defending the city from the dangers of the Starless Night. Players will have to work together to pass decrees, send out workers to collect resources, upgrade buildings, and build new lighthouses to keep Starless Night at bay. However, amidst the unity, a sinister undercurrent simmers, revealing fractured loyalties and hidden agendas.
Unlike previous games in this series, this will be the first competitive game with a hidden traitor mechanic. Since we know that the game is for 2 to 6 people, we are guessing that it comes with rules allowing it to be played without a traitor since it will be pretty obvious who the traitor is in a two-player game.
Kickstarter is set to launch on April 30, 2024, with early access perks already available on the Kinfire Chronicles website for $1. Early access will count as a deposit on your Kickstarter pledge and if you pledge at a base level or higher, you’ll get a micro expansion pack worth $20.
With micro expansion, you’ll get a set of cards for all the existing Kinfire games as well as for Kinfire Council. To be precise, you’ll get:
- One well-master card for each of the Kinfire Delve games.
- One silver diamond treasure pack for Kinfire Chronicles.
- One set of decrees, threats, and research cards for the Kinfire Council game.
At the moment, we don’t know how much the base level pledge for the game will be, but we do know that some of the add-ons will allow us to buy Kinfire Chronicles as well as all three Kinfire Delve games.
Incredible Dream Studio hasn’t disappointed us so far. Their Kinfire Chronicles: Night’s Fall is still one of our favorite games of 2023, and Kinfire Delve: Vainglory’s Grotto isn’t far behind. We doubt they will disappoint us with Kinfire Council.
