Board game startup Incredible Dream unveiled its latest creation, Kinfire Delve: Vainglory’s Grotto, a co-op card and dice game that aims to blend tactical gameplay with a bit of dungeon crawling and push-your-luck elements. The game will be available in autumn 2023 at all well-stocked board game stores.
Following the success of Kinfire Chronicles: Night’s Fall, this standalone game takes players on a challenging journey through Atios, a high-fantasy world we’ll explore further in this one to two-player game.
In “Kinfire Delve,” players confront the formidable Vainglory after navigating through the well by facing various difficulties presented by the deck of challenge cards. The publisher said that we can expect to learn more about the thought-provoking lore of Atios.
The game’s designer, Kevin Wilson, known for his work on classics such as Descent: Journeys in the Dark, Arkham Horror, and Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Board Game, expressed excitement about the game’s unique approach, “I wanted to do something a bit different from the usual schtick, something that allowed for wild, intricate dungeons that weren’t completely brown and grey.”
Wilson also said that players will need at least five or six playthroughs to see all the different cards in the game. Incredible Dream also has more Kinfire Delve games planned for 2024 that you can combine for additional challenges and use to increase the player count to up to four players. With the recommended retail price set at $20, Kinfire Delve: Vainglory’s Grotto promises to bring plenty of game for such a low price.
The team behind Incredible Dream has impressive talent from other industries, too. Katarzyna “Kate” Redesiuk worked in CD Project Red as an art director on Cyberpunk 2077 and Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, Robert Hunt is a former executive at Netflix and DreamWorks Animation, and, Ilya Ushakov is a board game content creator and influencer, known for his YouTube channel Korvay.
